Sonnet: Fray of Freedom
DC
Sonnet: Fray of Freedom
Once again my friends we enter the fray.
We're the oppressed people that need to be freed.
Our children will have long lasting peaceful days.
But it is us now who need to be freed to lead.
So climb to the sky all the Eagles.
Our leaders have turned to corporate greed.
Our war is inside and not with the illegals.
We must unite and end government to succeed.
But it isn’t about what they can’t do.
It is time to start over so we all have a fair shot.
It is about the leadership coming from me and you.
This country is ours and our leaders are not.
It is time to cheer at this auspicious occasion.
And watch out DC and prepare for an invasion.
Dedication
To every last person who has fought in this country for the liberation of the American People.
Inspiration
I was inspired to write a Sonnet because I have never done so before. And I have been on this grand experiment to enter everyday into the poetry contest while undertaking studying poetry. Since I am basically on a self study course my sole feedback is from you my readers. So I have had some good feedback and then none at all. I am certain many people are involved in the contests as they would all like to have money for the Holidays so they are probably too busy writing instead of reading. Or maybe my poetry has just stunk. Since I am just learning I will try not to make any assumptions.
I am certain I have missed the mark on a few poems.
The content of the poem is the general sentiment in the United States at this time. I am just channeling the feelings of the United States people towards the occupants of Washington, DC.
In every sense it is political satire and should in no means be taken as a threat but more of a sign of things to come when everyone in DC is released from their jobs and a new batch of politicians move in.
If you enjoyed this Sonnet please vote up.
