Spring is Shy

Spring is Shy

I hear the twitter of the birds,
the joyful song they sing.
I hear the rush of melting snows,
the hope that waters bring...
All little signs that now appear
beneath the cold gray sky.
I smile in sweet and tender warmth
though spring today is shy.

I see the fat and playful squirrels
skip and chase in fun
watch them as they skitter off
from branch to branch they run...
with happy heart they scamper
for the secret that they know...
spring, yet shy, will soon arrive,
her warmth a welcome show.

...well as I've had the pleasure of reading for some time now - it's obvious that most people would take several lifetimes just to try and write what you can write on a day to day basis - with so much effortless skill and panache!

epigramman, to be perfectly honest, in my heart and soul, I believe it is God's anointing...never in my entire life have inspiration or words come like this. It has to be Divine...indeed, I am amazed and blessed!

This is lovely. It's a real bright spot in my search for spring. Rhyming poetry can be difficult to write without sounding childish or unsophisticated, but the tone of this poem is nothing other than warmth and happiness. Well done.

Thank you, Ms. Sally! I am thrilled you like it! Hope Spring is over her shyness by now!
