Stand up for your right

Updated on June 11, 2010

Sometimes we find ourselves in the right place at the wrong time but what will it cost a man if you are wrongly accused, detained, imprisoned and ignored?

"Stand up fro your right"

"Get up and don't give up the fight"

I was scheduled to be at the Center by 11am so she urged me to take a taxi since i do not know my way too well besides driving in the city is always hectic especially during peak hours.it was 10am and the fact that i didn't want to be late made me plead the driver of the cab to drive a bit fast.

There were the four of us in the taxi though all passengers but three were heading the same destination with me,we got to the intersection on time but from that spot, you could see the traffic jam on the high way and that south lane is the main road to the Center.

First i had the intention of dropping and pick a Motorcycle to avoid being held up in the traffic but the passenger next to me convinced me not to but just as i was talking with him,the front seat passenger began screaming.

"I am going now,i am going ! should i die in this taxi or jump out and die"

At first,i thought that he was either in sane or playing a kind of joke but before we could all understood what he was actually doing,he slumped inside the car so the driver pulled over to the corner.

It was obvious that this man is sick, there was foams running out from both his nostrils and mouth and you could see him gasping for air,i tried to give him CPR but the foam coming out from his mouth was disgusting.

I personally called the paramedics but it took them quite some time to reach us,none of the other passengers left as we all was worried about this man,we don't even know each other but we stood by his side until the arrival of the paramedics.

The Police arrived as well and took information from us,they said that we all have to go to the Police Station to lodge our statements about what happened but the drama that followed up was a surprising one.

I was suppose to simply give a statement to the police but here i am been interrogated for something i do not know how it came about.

A man i tried to assist

We got the news that he died en route to the hospital and that was how the four of us who were suppose to be witnesses became suspects.

"Wonders shall never end"

I missed giving the speech,i got my day fucked up and here i am as a suspect.

We were locked up in the police cell until the arrival of my Attorney but according to the police officers he spoke with,i have to sleep over because it was late and my bail cannot be processed.

To sleep in the cell for something i do not know, for trying to help a fellow man and for being a good citizen is uncalled for and it is injustice,i could not sleep that night as thoughts of the situation took the whole of me.

It is clear how the Police abuse the Law and it became clear to me that there are so many other people like the four of us lavishing in Prisons,Cells and Detention centers, there are so many innocent people who are wrongly accused of what they know nothing about.

My Attorney was at the Police station by 7am the next morning and bailed me out but what is the fate of my fellow accused?

They were all later bailed out but that was not enough for me,someone has to answer me and someone has to correct this injustice, someone has to correct the abuse of power and the Police inefficiency so i sued the police department,i sued the state and i sued the law because i am Justice.

The evidence gathered by my Attorney were presented to the Court,it was clear that none of us knew nothing about the deceased, he died as a result of poison, he drank laundry bleach to kill himself and we had to suffer for his suicide.

We were suppose to be witnesses to death but the law enforcers, the so called police termed us suspected murders. It did not took the Jury time to decided the judgment because it was obvious that we were all innocent.

Verdict.

We were wrongly accused and detained but Justice cannot be deprived so after one hour court section, the truth was made public and the four witnesses to the death of John Doe were rewarded.

FINAL VERDICT

"The state hereby award the four witnesses to the death of John Doe the sum of twenty thousand Dollars each for wrongful accusation and detention".

This is Justice

This is right

This is a fight to finish

This is a relief to my soul

Justice must prevail

Sometime in my life,i came across Micky Dee and reading his articles keeps me on the right direction,i know that he has a passion for cycling, wish i had a bicycle because i would have rode down town instead of taking a taxi though the driver made it clear to me that day that he was not a pilot but a taxi driver. He said,

"If you want to get to your destination on time then leave your house early"

There are so many people falsely accused and Micky Dee once told me about them, though i never doubted what he said but i do dedicate this to all the wrongly imprisoned, detained, accused and killed all over the world.

"Stand up for your right"
