Star of the Morning In the Bright Darkness

Star of the Morning,

You shine so bright.

Star of the Morning,

Could you lend me some light?

In this shadow of darkness

Where hate fills the void,

In the shadow of darkness

It is of love I am devoid.

Star of the Morning,

Lend me your peace.

Star of the Morning,

Teach me fear’s release.

In this shadow of darkness

Where emptiness calls,

In this shadow of darkness,

Too often I alone do fall.

Star of the Morning,

Your light will shine through.

Star of the Morning,

Not seeing, I search for you.

In this shadow of darkness

Where no light abides,

In this shadow of darkness,

No choice have I but to hide

Star of the Morning,

Show me your way.

Star of the Morning,

Let love be my final say.

Hi Elefanza

I enjoy the yearning I feel reading the poem, the crying out to the star of the Morning. You have captured that searching in your soul and it also comes through in the rhythmn. A poem that creates the yearning you experience inside brings a kind of relief each time you read it. Or more yearning which isn't so bad either. You might want to experiment with closing your eyes and literally going into the darkness behind your eyeballs where you do not have to hide but will find a great deal of peace and comfort. That darkness is my kind of the dark night of the soul. Darkness sometimes gets a bad rap! lol! There is a saying that Silence is the cup that holds the music. You could say that darkness is the cup that holds the Star of the Morning and maybe there is also a star of the mourning. Anywho, maybe some creative tickle there for another poem.

Thanks for sharing your poetry and your self

All I know for sure is that I miss me some Elefanza!

I'm told that Jesus is the "Morning Star," but that Satan is the "Son of The Morning Star." How does that work?

Then again I suppose that if someone is a religious Jew then those names could have different meanings or interpretations - and the two of them have so many names that it's dang hard to keep up with and make sense of it all.

Beautiful write!

Aw, thanks! I've been living without internet for a week or so and been busy moving for the past few weeks, ergo I haven't been hubbing as much. Oh, and I'm writing a book of short stories. So there's that.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the star of the morning. I had a conversation about that with some religious people and apparently satan was the star of the morning, but then jesus became the star of the morning. As for Jews, I don't know what the significance of that is.

Hope your doing well! I'll be writing more soon!
