State of Mind...some thoughts
State of Mind
By Tony DeLorger © 2012
In the clear light of day we may see beyond ourselves,
into the vast landscape of life,
yet what secrets lie in our own cast shadow,
our dark and clandestine truths clothed in denial.
We may live in a state of freedom outwardly,
but what binds us to imprisonment are the walls we ourselves create
by the very limitations of our belief.
Each step sure of purpose may well be the greatest delusion of all,
the echoes of which shed light on the shadow of doubt and fear
that accompany all thoughts of reason.
It is not will alone that dictates outcome,
but the intricate thoughts and motives that guide life to expression,
and to the circumstances we see as results.
What we don't see are the biases and conditioning,
that silently twist reason into new delusions,
always manipulating truth for the purpose of acceptance.
It is a brave man who can recognise the mirror,
the reflection of the self with all its ineptitudes and guises,
and accept that perfection is a chosen direction, not a destination.
Awareness is a state of mind,
a willingness to see what is there rather than what we wish,
and then to appreciate the potential, to love and forgive.
