... Beneath A Steel Sky

I cannot fly

I am trapped beneath a steel sky

I cannot cry

Still teardrops of true blood falls from my left eye

Droplets striking ground with high velocity

Do not want fame, but I do not want anonymousity

Dream of heartfelt generousity

Not seeking eponymousity

A pure deed

A world where people consider the next man's need

A gesture without prioritizing own greed

Justification fights on and I pray it succeed

If I cannot fly, then please let me sing

I dream the words will carry on like the flutter from a butterfly wing

In a single heartbeat you define a living thing

Dreaming of that poisonous sting

The hurt fueling my inner fight

The break of dawn a winner delight

Toxication lifting me on a sinner flight

Dancing with the devil tonight

Amidst darkness there is only light

Amidst braveness there is only fright

Amidst wrongness there is only right

Amidst blindness there is only sight

I cannot fly

I am trapped beneath a steel sky

I cannot cry

Still teardrops of true blood falls from my right eye

I found myself considering every image that you placed in my mind's eye. I wanted to read this to its conclusion because as I read, I took on the narrative voice and desperately wanted to see how it would turn out for me. Really inspiring. Fantastic picture.

Very cool, nice flow and rhythm to the backbone and structure of the poetic flesh that cloaks it. When read aloud it's really nice. :)

I just joined HubPages, solely for the selfish reason to put my own thoughts down on paper...imagine my surprise to have you join my page. I came on your site to see who you were and thought at first we had no commonality and thought...why did you come to my page...then I read this poem...now I see where we connect. This is beautiful. Will look for more.

I wasn't aware until I read this that people were posting poetry here. I love this piece, and it has inspired me to guts up and post my own work as well. I don't feel quite so alone in the world now. Thank you for that =)
