Stifling Rancid Aggression

Stifling rancid aggression insipidly nipping at my heals

Hurtling angry antagonizing thoughts of prejudice into my psyche

I am ashamed and remorseful of my own demons

Who rear up their ugly heads in vengeance against my weakness

Until I falter in distress howling in torturous agony

What formidable actions have I unwillingly taken

What dastardly words have I bellowed into the night

With no self respecting acquisition of my own accord

I find bountiful faults in all my meager strengths

No mortal forgiveness can ever relinquish my loathing

Self righteous indulgence of all physical pleasure

With no repentance of self exaggerated greatness

As time extensively lags on into the bleak abyss

Known for its delicious temptation of hungered souls

Taste of it for one more moment of time

But yield no commendable replicable action

No more accomplished than the exhausted storm

As it slowly finds no more thrust to conspire its momentum

Rest well and be forgiving of your own inadequacies

For no implication of an impending catastrophe

Is reliably called forth for a moment in time

Don't Criticize Me

We each tend to be overly critical of our own abilities as we exaggerate our inadequacies. We must learn to believe in ourselves and lift our selves up above the desolation of self doubt. We must learn to let go of the things we are unable to change about us and find the courage to face the truth that we are not perfect. We all fall short in some ways, but we can find strength and comfort in our abilities and grow in them bringing us to a point of elevation above the lowly. We are all capable masters of our own craft and we can continue to expand on what we know we can do and extend into what we wish could. We define our own destiny by the perception we have of our own path and the importance it bears. So fear not, don’t be reclusive in your light let it shine on the world and be proud because you are who you were meant to be. We must be careful of what we tell ourselves about ourselves and keep the luminous light about us that make us unique and brilliant.

Well done, dmop...voted up and interesting from a guy who does not self doubt; although, maybe I should a bit more!

Thanks for the pep talk today. Being confident in who you are will help you reach those important goals in life.

Bob as always your support is appreciated. I usually see the brighter side of things, but every now and then when things look bleak I have to give myself a lecture to remind me that I have accomplished many of my goals. Its usually just a temporary set-back that God has planned for me, but now and then he throws in a doozy to be sure I'm praying attention. Thanks for stopping have a great day.

Wow dmop, very Poe-esqe, read like something he might have written. A wise man once told me that no one bats a thousand and so i say your philosophy here is spot-on my friend. Do the best you can and you've done it right, with no regrets and no self-doubt. Keep on truckin' dmop.

The first part of this piece brought forth the serenity prayer in my mind, the last part, be yourself, be proud of who you are. Beautiful..Thank you..

Alastar Packer, Thank you for stopping by and taking at look at my work, it is much appreciated as always. To say that it is Poe-esqe is quite an honor as far as I'm concerned, so thanks for that as well. I hope the day greets you with much contentment.

Thank you for sharing this peice with us. There really are no words I can think of right now to describe the fimiliarness of this poem. I think its a struggle we all strive to understand but only in finding the good in yourself is the only way to put the anger to ease. Thankyou agian for sharing something so deep.

"We must be careful of what we tell ourselves about ourselves and keep the luminous light about us that make us unique and brilliant."

Yes, these words resonate with me as does all of this article. You are right we do need to let go of the things we cannot change and there is no gain what so ever in investing time in that place as it is self defeating. I have spent way too much time lamenting what I cannot change. This is an excellent article and I am glad I have read it. Thank you, my votes to you dmop, and sharing.

This is a brilliant poetry, dmop and I have to read it all over again top to bottom! I am never critical to myself even putting myself in a blame so deep. Where I am right, it would mix my anger with pride, but I know it is not healthy to myself nor to the other person. We drive anger to ourselves, and we are also the ones who can control it. Where I feel that I fail, I don't let it ruin me nor torture myself. I would be sad yes, angry to hurting and putting myself down, never. I would question it and find answers. We have to be strong to face it, stay away from hurting ourselves and others through aggression, unwelcoming anger.

"We must learn to let go of the things we are unable to change about us and find the courage to face the truth that we are not perfect." -This is very right! We must also let go of the attachments that destroys us and find the courage to replace it with goodness without struggling into perfection. Let us take it easy, persevere, stand tall in confidence and never let self-doubt get in our way.

Beautiful piece. We are all plagued by self doubt, criticism, anger and aggression at some time in our lives. You did a masterful job of turning those negative emotions into poetry. Excellent writing.

Sometimes I'm too critical about myself. I see darkness everything, I see no hope in the world. But then suddenly I remember, life is a gift, and I have to appreciate the beauty of life.

Your emotions in the poetry are very powerful.

Thanks for following me. I will enjoy following you.

Cheers

Ruby211, I think that is how I made the connection between the poem and the final idea of the Hub. It angers me that at times I am so hard on myself, when I shouldn't be. Thanks for reading and commenting it is greatly appreciated. I hope you have a fantastic day.

Love your poem 'Don't Criticize Me' - Very uplifting for me cos I'm there in the confusion of finding self right now. I love what you wrote: "...don’t be reclusive in your light let it shine on the world and be proud because you are who you were meant to be..."

Thank you - Thanks for sharing - You have a blessed day

normskismith, thank you for reading and commenting on my article, I appreciate it. I'm glad you liked it and hope it was helpful. We each come to a point were we feel lost and don't know what our next move should be. I watched a movie recently (A Bird of the Air) which had a line that stuck in my mind "being lost is only temporary". I recommend it for someone trying to find themselves or anyone for that matter. Thanks again and God bless, I will include you in my prayers.

I like. Nice. The poll tells a story of its own too. There are free survey sites on the web, maybe a bigger audience will shed more light - then a hub? 10 is good, since one could extrapolate a base having set a variable to compare with. Possibly a control too in the setting here. Toss in a smidget of basic statistics and Woola, the poem will be told in another light or shadow. . .

The words of your poem, especially its boldness opens the mind, touches the heart, then offers an answer. A little recipe of sorts I see first comes 1, then 2, while allowing for 3 . . .

This hub has allowed my mind to be put into flight, that is good, and I thank you. There is a secret I saw, asking humbly if I may share. The words are big and stare back at each of us looking at the video. A question I pondered listening is it conquering self doubt or is it to conquer self (narcissism), the answer is doubt? or question self?

I have told 'self' not to comment too long, yet I dared, and now off to write a little ditty with the letter 'y or is it Y . . .Again, dmop, I thank you much!

dmop profile image

dmop 4 years ago from Cambridge City, IN Author

tsmog, the poll does certainly have its own story to tell. I answered my own poll stating that I am sometimes to critical of myself, then I wondered if I had answered correctly, which only affirmed that in fact I did. I struggle with short Hubs let alone lengthily comments, so I will leave it at that. Thanks for stopping in and for the great comment, have a terrific day.
