Stonehenge I Became ......

Poetic Explanation.....

Just like so many granite piers standing
poetically braced against any
feelings at all
Yes I became Stonehenge .....Or it
became me
self preservation
I suppose
And yet ....was it not my choice
as if looking out at the mass's
somehow gave me hope.......
And Hope .....
there was none
I should
have ended up in jail or worse
Yes .....those boys who become like
stone are never right again
Never .......
And yet , I can say without hesitation
none whatsoever .........
Once a stone
always a stone
And so ....forgive my haunting stares
It's just the echoes within
that plague me yet
Some sound like stones rolling
downhill and bouncing
one to another

Wow Horseback..this was really good..got my mind thinking..Was the stone always there or did it take years to create this harden stone like structure..Winds and rain pushed on its core..sort of like us..we were not born stones..life has a way of making us like stones, created from lifes hard knocks..tearing down the hard surface is not easy but it can be done over time..I would think love can chissle this stone little by little until there is a sparkling gem inside..Self presererance..a strange thing..it takes on so many differnt forms..some a stone others a hand full of jelly like substance..only wanting to be more like a stone..very very profound..sorry to go on so..Thank you..

Hi Sunnie Day , You are right about it all! No one is born a stone , I don't know ,some children internalize and some extravert it all ! I went in! No one can do that for long , but I tried. No longer though now, I can be a babbling fool if I have a beer or two! lol. You "go on" just fine ! by the way......:-}

Love lost, love betrayed, friendship betrayed, trust betrayed, betrayal by family, real-life lessons in hypocrisy, knowing unknown truths; any of those might drive a person to a facade of stone, and all most certainly will if they happen too close together. No one is born that way. But then again, that's life.

FitnezzJim, Yes , I think that some men become like stone in life experiences , but a beginning of stone is perhaps the roughest on the sychy....Be well my friend :-}

I like to sit and listen to rocks tumble down a cliff. Were you doing that when you wrote this? Somehow i think of you as a loner who would enjoy the solitude... Enjoyed..

Stone? ummm... beautiful wishful thinking here Mr .ahorseback , maybe in a differant life or something , but you my friend are a true poet and one that is as tender as a ...(trying not to say flower) ok ..tender as sandalwood with its lovely manly man scent :) You craft your poetry beautifully and im sure you have a heart to match, although your a "stones throw" away from being a little bit of a romantic nut , in which ALL of "us' women seem to Love :)voted up ,awesome and beautiful because it is just that!:)
