Succubus City (Part II)

I flew back over the Louisiana swamps to find myself back in the land of the Succubi.  At first she laid low and kept her distance...allowed me to get comfortable and content.  My mistake... always watch your back in Succubus City.  Just when things felt right, they went wrong.  She grabbed for my soul with her blood-filled fingers and pierced my skin with her numbing eyes. This time (three weeks into the Mississippi soil) I was caught off guard.  My soul taken while sleeping and unexpected.  I woke to the old me, the me that got lost looking for my soul, unknowingly having a not so innocent part to play.
You learn not to sleep, you loose your dreams, you find your empty, disassociated self... looking back at your own tired eyes.  My eyes are still tired, but my soul has flown back with me to the roots of who I am and who I will become.  Now I try nursing back the soul I left vulnerable and alone while I rekindled with the old self I am trying to depart from.

My soul is more forgiving than I am...

For hours my eyes search for the ancient semi-precious stone that fascinates my soul. I have been told there is nothing special about the agates found on the rock banks of Mississippi, but I disagree.

Deep and penetrating in its intensity, as well-motivated writing always should be. Wonderful. We all are so wary of the dreaded succubus. What a strange name for a strange type of woman. Got to rate this up.
