Sweetest Love

Suddenly, so suddenly

reeling from loneliness and heartbreak

one day he found he was no longer alone

she simply entered his life quietly

and was content to sit by his side

at first all he needed to do

was to look into her eyes of blue

where he saw the wisdom of the ages

the good and the bad

that this lovely woman had gone through

he remembered how wonderful

it felt the first time

her hand slipped into his

the first kiss that sent him reeling

and then contentment

to simply be understood

to not be alone

to have her friendship

often times he wondered

how long she would stay

that was something

she would never say

but the tight bonds

that held his heart

kept love frozen inside

it was upon a heart stopping

sun drenched morning

while he waited for her in the park

for one moment he thought

she was not going to come

and then just like the first time

when she had sat by his side

she was there with her sunny smile

it was then that he knew

the chains that once bound him

were forever broken

so he took her by the hand

and when his story was done

she had cheeks wet with tears

but at least now he knew

that she was his

and as they got up to walk

hand in hand

he finally knew

that he was walking

into a new and bright future

with this young woman

sent to him

like an angel from heaven above

Like an angel from Heaven, yes. Sometimes these things happen or are meant to be. Great Poetry!

Perfect song to punctuate this lovely poem, Rasma. It's one of my favorite Guns N Roses songs.

You have such a romantic, dreamy heart. I just love your poems. If you don't mind me asking, do you have someone in your life who has captured your heart and keeps the love young and alive?

Glad you enjoyed this Shauna. Yes, I do my soul mate who even knows how to keep me calm when I get upset and makes life worth living again.

No wonder you have such a romantic heart! I'm happy you've found your soul mate in life, Rasma. Some people spend a lifetime searching.

That is so true Shauna. It is helping me some with new found inspiration since I took up the April Poetry Challenge again this year. However with a plate full I am going to need a vacation desperately in May. Hope your weekend is great.
