A poet is always a troubled creature
Distress and discontent plague him all his life
He learns hard with a formidable teacher
As he grapples emotions in an eternal strife

Sadness overpowers him, likewise, felicity
He dampens his own spirits with all his heart
For his world knows no grey, but black atrocity
Growing poignant in his speech and thought

He perceives not a limit, in generosity
Compensation, Compromisation are alien words
Giving all, expecting all, to him, are not impossiblility
His soul ever, betwixt hope and despair, clashes swords

His love is boundless, passionate, untainted
But he directs them at moot points, not mirrors
Which reflect back, for his own life is not sainted
He has dark flaws, his apprehensions and terrors

When God feels bored, that his creation is mundane
For amusement, he tosses in an ardent soul
To whom, his very strongest nature, proves a bane
That he reviles and cries at all things foul

For even the divine maker likes clowns
He too needs a laugh every now and then
To see them struggle in their ups and down
Against their own selves, some select women and men

perfection in your writing here. I try not myself to get caught up in the traditions and convention of poe-tree and I always try to subvert it and play with it - well that's me - always trying to extend the borders and push the envelope so to speak - but you are such a lovely writer - and you are at the top of your craft in this momentous piece - sending you warm wishes from lake erie time ontario canada 12:54am
