Tattoo Poem

Snippett

So they piled him in the panda
car and drove him from the scene.
He was peaceable and wearier
than lately he had been
through indulging in a potion
to inhibit neural motion
which was wholly understanda-
ble in someone whose posterior

had borne the ministration
of a tyro in tattoo.
His instruction had been simple -
'On the left, in navy blue,
Angelina, and above it
coupled hearts (I think she'll love it
for its bold and inspiration-
al enhancing of a dimple)'.

But the over-eager Eddy
in a bid to make his name
drew an anchor and an anvil
and an unadorned dame,
then a pheasant and a weevil
(that looked hideously evil)
and to crown it, an incredi-
ble attempt at Rupert Granville.

The above poem received my favourite comment of all time, and a 'found poem' in its own right, as follows:

i don't really get this poem as much as i thought that i would get it?!?!?!? so i think that you need help on this poetry buisness. because if you can't write a poem that doesn't make sense than you should't right them?!?!?!!

What more can one say?

Paraglider - the words just roll off your keyboard so effortlessly, don't they?

Years ago, I would try to 'loosen' my tongue like Enid Blyton's character Fatty - didn't get me beyond gibberish and I realised that kind of talent is only given to a fortunate few!

Hi Shalina - I'd forgotten about Fatty. He was one of the Secret Seven, wasn't he?

Blame the single-malt scotch...I wonder what it would feel like to have such inspiration peering into the loo's watery surface..? There must be a strong inclination to wear a thong at the beach...such art must out !!! And such art you have given us with this little ditty...wonderfully crafted with a bell-like resonance that sings...Thanks Dave, I really enjoyed this...

Happy holidays to you and yours, Larry

Hi Larry - it was a couple of years ago, so whether it was a malt or a grain poem, I can't quite recall!

Have a great Christmas - I'm flying home to the cold tomorrow :)

Paraglider - Dear Friend - Your poem is so very funny, and it had the kind of rythm and rhyme that should be in all of the textbooks (worthless things that those textbooks may be...) I apologize for being so late to the table, but, PG, the food was still so very tasty. Thank you.

Gus :-)))

Hi Gus - always welcome, late or early. If you like this quirky form with the hyphenated word in the second last line, you might like my only other attempt at it, here: http://dave-mcclure.blogspot.com/2008/02/ramble.ht...

Thanks for the read :)
