Teach me to whisper again ........

Source

The days grow longer in my middle
age
somehow and equally unsettling
life grows shorter
there is more time now to recall
and less time to dream
There are more regrets and certain passions
turn up missing
like kisses with the fullest lips
and orgasms filling
this abyss
And once favorite old songs now remind me of
the blind innocence of youth
And all of the nights spent on
whiskey laced dreams
tangled in the wet sheets
of hot august
evenings
I smashed my youth against
the brick walls
Now surrounded by the
shards of glass
But yet you could save me from myself
in a moment of grace
take my hand and lead me
to the dark place
Teach me again how to whisper
and
feel ....feel
Pull my hand to your flesh
your breast
and much more
We could awaken in the tomorrow
with that taste from my memory
on your lips
And your taste on mine

I think your very best! And certainly from a place where anyone our age has visited more than once. I hope your visit is brief. Voted up and awesome. I liked it so much I read it 3 times.

I simply love this! I don't think I can explain why, it just resonates with me on a very basic level. Maybe because I am in middle age too but this just expresses so well some things I have not been able to put a finger on. It's so very well-written! I've bookmarked it so that I can return again. You should be proud of this one!

Neighbor, you just keep getting better and better.

I can feel the longing, the craving to go beyond the memories to truly relive the precious moments that, once experienced, have forever left us changed, remembering and wistful.

Well done.

I am glad to have started to read poetry. This is another good one, the memory of youth and more.

Voted up.

Wow. I love this one even more than the last. Perhaps because we share certain mindsets. You mentioned earlier when commenting on 2 of my poems, that it sounded as tho' it was coming from you. Well you've spoken many of my own thoughts and feelings here, enough to raise goosebumps. rather uncanny. Your poem is beautifully worded, and situations you allude to go straight to the heart. Thank you. a great poem!
