That Weekly Shop !!!
Good day one and all and the weekend is upon us again.
I had been hoping to publish my hubs on the Welsh Railways of yesteryear ;many of you will know that we took our grandchildren there a couple of weeks ago. However each day has been very hectic and it's not quite complete yet; hence today's light hearted poem.
This poem goes back to the days when my six children were small and oh dear that shopping day always came round far too fast !!Ha ha ha.I am sure many of you can relate to this also.
I have kept this hub short with only one poem because I feel that anymore would spoil the humour.
Remember that those sunny smiles and a good dose of laughter are indeed the very best medicine of all.
There is never another day
To match that weekly shop;
My heart thunders on
And just will not stop.
x
I gather my kiddies
Like sheep to the fold;
Sheep oh so well trained
Their laughter so bold.
x
Each one falls into line;
Like a well drilled army;
How fortunate am I
I am oh so lucky.
x
Very soon we reached
The Supermarket Store;;
The sheep now escape
Rushing to the door !!!
x
Little Jim grabs a trolley
And shoots down the aisle;
Laughing and shrieking
Gone is my smile.
x
Peg pretends she's Tarzan
And swings on the clothes;
And Hetty falls headfirst
To the freezer she goes !!!
x
And now Toby hollers
"Mam I need a Peee!!!"
Oh am I still sane?
Oh poor poor me !!
x
Now Molly and Dolly
Are climbing so high;
Oh how I lose my patience
Screaming like a Banshee!!!
x
I cannot now stop
My face a beetroot red;
And the kiddies by now?
Not another word said !!!
x
We reach the checkout
Oh if looks could kill;
The manager just snarls
"We'll send you the bill!!!!"
x
As we head for home
I threaten and scold;
And the kiddies by now
Like sheep to the fold !!!
x
Finally it is bedtime
All kiddies sleeping now;
My angels I forgive you
As I kiss each soft brow!!!
All asleep and all is forgiven as a mother's unconditional love shines through.
I hope you all enjoyed today's hub and I wish you all a great day with lots of love from my little corner of Wales.
Eddy.
