The Art of Giving

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Eloquent though the words of love,

'tis actions that grow strong a heart,

in acceptance of a selfless mind,

a caring, loving conscious art.

Golden silk a gift may be,

but the giving intent is all that means,

in sacrifice of postured gain,

with thoughts of joy and love redeemed.

Toil and support in life expressed,

cannot be an encumbered tool redressed,

simply a gift of laboured time,

in freedom a heart offered, a test.

Of oneself how much we give,

is the testament of a life well lived,

in consideration of someone else,

we aspire a mind of balance, stealth.

For an ego is the brash exterior of a silent potential,

that when held within is tempered,

and in perspective becomes the free-est heart of all,

focused on our loved ones, selfish gain rejected.

Eloquent though the lies we tell,

a heart in truth is boundless,

in accepting that love is all we have,

a life of giving is happiness.
