"The Black Swan"

"I was perfect."
"I was perfect."

Dance, ballerina, dance,
Until your toes bleed
from all the twirling
done on your feet.
The competition is tough,
but your will much stronger,
fight, you must,
for the part you hunger.
Become the swan,
white and black.
The two become one,
good and bad.
You can do it, ballerina.
I have faith in you.
Mommy is watching,
and the whole audience too.
Do you have it in you?
Do you have what it takes?
Are you more than this sweet and innocent girl,
or is that all just a fake?
I think you've got it.
Its been in you all along.
The fiery lust, the sexual desire,
The devil's prong.
You'll do whatever it takes,
to prove to them,
You ARE the Black Swan.
You'll commit the greatest sin.
Murder and suicide,
you welcome death in.
The show must go on,
though there's blood on your skin.
One final leap to show your perfect,
One final leap ends it all.
No roses await your bow,
as you take that last fall.
You truly are the black swan,
at the end of the play.
You danced well, ballerina.
Good night, and good day.

great poem nikki --- u certainly did do it justice, i really like it!

The black and the white swan together is v powerful image... ying and yang, light and darkness co-existing together like jekyll and hyde --- great stuff!

Wow, you nailed this. Loved this way you "interpreted" the story and the character played in the film by Portman. You rock!

I haven't seen the movie so I'll assert our one true Nikki is quite the one you see, a dark and light deep woman, a swan for all eternity.

I love the fleeting notion of fiery lust and deep desire, but watch out for that great sin, there's no way back to be free, but there's one thing I quite take home, our Nikki the great writer, a dancer all to me...

As bbnix I haven't seen the film either. So I read this hub as I read your other poems and loved it as your others. You have a wunderful way of putting the words together. lol

thanx everyone! love your comments. astra, you rock! lol and bbnix got a little poem of your own there, thank u. this might not be your and ghaelachs kind of movie but if you like lezbian "sex" and seeing natalie portman masturbate and pychological thrillers and ballets then maybe you should check it out. and damian yes we all have a good and a bad side, just one usually over powers the other.

I don't know much of other men, although ghaelach seems quite cool, but it's clear for this man, one woman's love is gorgeous, two in love, quite sublime...

And you know how I feel about dancers, and psychological thrillers are right up my line!

I think I'll have to check out that movie ... ;)

I tend to agree with you, Nikkij...lol...it was a bit over the top for this tnderhrt but....it was a movie presented at my son's during my visit...and it had it's merits, altho...lol...it definitely was Hollywood-ized for sensationalistic impact...lololol...you did do it justice tho and I commend you for that! Impressive! (your poem...not the movie!!!) grins...

thanx again tnderhrt! yea very hollywoodized but it was also an independent film. i believe the reason it got so much attention was because of the lezbian sex scene and natalie portmans masturbation scene lol. that would definitley get people, guys, watching lol. other than that the pychotic parts could have been way better, and more of em, movies these days take too long to get into the good stuff it seems. skip a lot of the boring parts and get to the theatrics, you can still have a story without being boring.
