The Blinds are Drawn Shut

Like blinds drawn with haste

to shun injustice's ghost;

for its wrath they dare not taste

-as now their eyes are forced closed.

And befriended by the disquise

they barely noticed his hand descend

and draw the blinds of his guise

which only hope or God can mend.

And what is reality anyway

but a perception of the mind

and how often does the mind stray

to some new dream we can find.

And what of a man of change

who can make all our thoughts derange.
