The Cheating of the Heart

The Cheating of the Heart

I could talk to you all night

Until you've changed your mind

Then I'd have your beautiful smile

And we'd be happy for awhile

But you wouldn't take me back

Truly believing it would last

Sooner or later our differences would come up

You've already told me that you don't think love's enough

So when we'd start to fight

You'd start thinking you were right

Then the distance between us would start

And we'd be pushed apart

Even though we'd still have love, we'd be alone again

Right back where it all began

The head thinks it is being smart

But, in the end, it only cheats the heart

It's a beautiful expression of those feelings and that experience, my dear Shan. I could mention what I have learned about those feelings and experiences, but it doesn't matter. YOURS are what it expresses and they are deeply engraved on your being ; - or were then and for as long as you feel them.

I know someone else who feels that way; - that "sooner or later our differences would come up". It prevents him even from being able to allow the spiritual sharing of a mutually felt love to be so much as whispered, though there is no likelihood of its becoming more than that. I can only feel sad for him. That and principles which surely don't apply, prevent him from perhaps what his soul most needs. I can't even mention it. Nothing has ever been 'said' directly between us & surely, never will be.

btw - there is an 'n' missing from 'then' in the 6th line from the bottom. Little letters somehow seem to get lost for no apparent reason.

Oh, that was years ago and, in this case, if I had listened to my heart rather than my head I know that I most certainly would not have been happy! Haha. Let's just say someone liked to argue for the sake of arguing, I think.

As for the typo, it's probably just because I can't type! I always seem to either leave off letters or transpose them.
