The Cleansing of Rainwater......

It rains and rains and rains.......that's just the
way it is where reality resides
Sometimes it soaks into the your very mind
where sanity no longer hides

Much like the blanket laying heavy
and soaking on the clothes line
The dreams .....you know the ones .....where you
try running with your legs entwined

Once as a young man swimming in my river
and all around me only the storm
The steady rain absorbed by flowing water
surfacing in the rain so warm

I looked around me and realized at once
thus from which we came
The rain ......the river.....cleansing
a bathing in the falling rain

The rest of them cowering beneath the
rainroad bridge avoiding the cleansing shower
But I .......I stayed in the river .......and the rain
it's strength restoring my power

"The rest of them cowering beneath the

But I .......I stayed in the river .......and the rain

it's strength restoring my power" Wonderful use of words I really loved this. A poem about something most people would never even think of but we all could use a little cleansing shower. Great poem, voted up!

You've captured me Ahorseback...I mean that.

Whenever I read your work you make me feel so at peace. You write with such serenity.

Water is purifying and restorative. I started my work day yesterday at 6am and by 7pm I was crashing. I went to take a shower, washed my hair (I had another 5 hours to go)and by the time I came out of the shower I felt so renewed.

My reflective and thoughtful friend, swimming in the rain was something magical to me as well and I am grateful to you for putting the water always in my mind. Like Cardisa says, you are an individual of serenity and you are more often than you could know such a gift in a crazy world.

Marina ! Hello my sweet "water daughter" ! In my younger years I would sit often at the rivers edge dreaming of a better life , yearning for some spirit to be absorbed into my empty life and dreaming of the right girl to come down through the whitewater and be swept away by me and my river! Its nice to know that tranquility and serene moments can be given to someone else. Thank you as always for you're beautiful comments .Ed

Very good, I liked this, it reminds me of one I wrote only ten times longer, lol. I have to send I think over 100 out for copyright (keep coming across more stuck here and there some with no titles) (and getting away from love so much)and then I will post it. I will be glad to see what you think of it. There is a cleansing in rain and a freshness. It's not conceded to love your own work is it? lol Some sucks but I pop it in anyway, may redo for kids, lol.

Hi Jackie Lynnley , No , we have to love our writing first or no one else will. Sometimes I wonder is the poetry we write our last grasp at emotional fulfillment. Or an answer to the yearnings within that not everyone has. Now where are these ex rated ones?.LOL

Oh I had one, I think you missed that one, I think many did. The ones that read it liked it, lol. Maybe we are both just in a cocoon. What's with the Jackie Lynnley? That hurts my feelings.
