The Color In My Life
As I open the closet door and peer in--still half asleep (in the need for that third cup of coffee) I stand there and ponder on what I will wear today. Of course, it will have to compliment those raggedy old jeans! Now---there is that RED pull-over with the faded words printed on it stating "HOT MOMMA" well maybe I should throw that in the rag bag?
Okay, there is that RED blouse with the torn sleeve or the faded RED one with the frayed collar---Nah! Then I realize that there are many hangers and all have the color RED hanging from them?
Color plays an important part in our lives, yet they vary with time, place and culture. It can affect our behavior and feeling without you realizing it.
Here are a couple of examples:
RED: It is often used in America to indicate a warning; such as a stop sign, yet at the same time, it symbolizes love, passion, strength, braver, excitement, romance, heat, ambition, arrogance and much more. A simple RED rose can symbolize passionate love.
During certain periods of history RED was worn at funerals in parts of China, Korea and Japan. the shades of RED change with time. In China now, red is the color of prosperity and joy.
RED is the strong symbolism of blood as in life and vitality and survival.
As I think more about it I realize that colors are very important to each one of us in the painting of our everyday lives. Yes, my closet pointed that out to me---and my wine-rack only seems to be able to hold RED wine---a mystery of taste? My flower garden shows more RED roses than any other color?
As you can see RED is my favorite color and I think that I will keep that old raggedy RED pull-over a little longer---it feels sooooo good and it blends perfectly with my faded jeans.
