The Dance
I danced beneath the bloodless moon,
mesmerized by midnight's bloom.
Clothed in Eden's splendid dress,
sporting none but flowered tress.
I danced beneath a silent sky
to ceremonially untie
bonds that held my heart in chain,
breaking free in starlight's wain.
I danced to music never heard,
a melody of unsung bird...
My tear drops fell into the night,
I cried for joy at freedom's sight.
I raised my hands to Heaven's Gate
Ecstatic now to claim my Fate...
In the embrace of darkness fair
I honored all that brought me there.
I danced like I had never danced.
With graceful step, I swayed and pranced
in ballet of fluid show,
I twirled about in heart rondeau.
I danced to joy I'd never felt
and as I danced, the chains did melt.
Time then vanished, as did age,
for in my hand, a brand new page.
I danced beneath the bloodless moon
until the flush of morning bloom...
my heart and soul had taken wing,
my spirit given voice to sing.
