The Darkness

The Darkness (poem)

Darkness all around me

There's nothing I can see

I'm reaching out for something

But it's me alone, just me

I scramble to find anything

That I can lean upon

A place to rest and find myself

But everything is gone

Coldness lies beneath my feet

Sending chills through my bones

Eyes wide open, I see nothing

No nothing, I'm alone

Paralyzed by the unknown

My thoughts are my only friend

I tell myself to keep moving

I can find the light again

Confused by fear and reality

A tear rolls down my face

I hear the droplet hit the floor

The echo travels throughout space

Silence returns in a hurry

Reminding me where I am

In the darkness, by myself

Will I ever see the sun again?

Just then as I kneel to pray

A warmth enters my skin

A loving voice says "It's me, God"

"You're never alone, my friend."

He said "Now put your hand in mine"

"I will never let you go"

As I lifted my hand to His

He handed me my life, aglow!

God loves you.

Awesome poem. Gives me the feeling of being lost as sea, clinging to a floating plank, waiting to finally be rescued. I'm so glad you find strength and hope in the Lord. You rock!
