Its the last stop before death...
Tell me, what have you done with your life?
Answer the question truthfully,
there's no time to lie.
As the train is roaring to go,
"All aboard!" the conductor yells...
Next stop depends on you.
Will it be Heaven or Hell?

Are you ready to let go?
Are you ready to confess all of your sins?
As your mortality slips away,
and decay creeps upon your skin.
Have you lived a full and good life?
Can you say that its been complete?
Did you leave behind something to be remembered by,
or did you let the glass fall and break at your feet?

Leaving behind blood stains and scars,
mistakes and regrets.
Are you proud of the things you've done?
or do they cause you to fret?
Is there still hate in your heart,
can you forgive and forget?
Have you lived and learned and loved as much as you can?
What if I said that you weren't quite dead yet?

Would you go back and change,
Live life for the better?
Would you do what's right,
survive the stormy weather?
And when the death train comes rolling back through,
What will you then be leaving behind?
Will you get on with a sense of satisfaction and peace,
or are you in for a bumpy ride?

Its the last stop before death...
Tell me, what have you done with your life.
Answer the question truthfully,
there's no time to lie.
As the train is roaring to go,
"All aboard!" the conductor yells...
Next stop depends on you.
Will it be Heaven or Hell?

This is a great Hub, Nikki! Looking at our own life and asking have we done enough or whether this is all there is - it's perfectly normal. It's okay and life can hurt. We all get it. It's a nice theme for a hub.

I always used to ask "Is this all we get?" when I was younger.

Then I just got on with the going after what I wanted in life. Life is short, but we make the most of it and enjoy each day and count our blessings too. Often we have more than we realize.

Thanks everyone for the comments. :)

Cassie I have asked myself that plenty of times. Still do. But what determines if this is it is ourselves. We have to get out there and go for what we want. Exactly. Life is too short to sit on the sidelines and wait for things to come to us. Which is basically what I am doing now lol. I wish I had someone like you and Cathy here to motivate me and help me accomplish what I want to do in my life. Yall are very inspiring and I look up to you guys. Yall are doing quite well for yourselves and are very accomplished whereas I cant even seem to get started. Too lazy and procrastinating and always making excuses :/

How very interesting. The universal question. Nicely done.

Powerful theme, very well captured, Nikki. It is a question we all ask ourselves or should do, long before the last stop before the end. I suppose it is the journey that makes it all worthwhile a our destinations will all be the same. voted up!

If I tell you what I have done with my life, can you explain to me my death? Beautiful words with such a passionate grasp on questions never answered. I love it

Mckbirds, Docmo, Johnny... thanks for commenting...The question only you can answer. You know the answer deep in your hearts...the problem is living to fulfill that answer. To live a full life. to do good and right things. The question is no more or less harder than the answer. Idk I am just rambling lol.

Nikki, this is a great poem that asks probing questions. Questions that most of us don't want to be asked because we fear the answers. If the train pulled in the station for me, I know I wouldn't be ready to board. Too many regrets, too many things to make right for me! Thanks for the thought provoking hub!

I love this. Makes us reflect a lot if we lived our lives to the fullest..are we ready or not..happy or kinda.. So glad we always have a choice.. To wake up, live and breathe, smile or just rot lol well at least we are living and we have choices to ride another journey. Sometimes we focus too much about the destination we forget about the stop overs... :)

Wow, Nikki this is so moving.... but I understand your feelings in this. Not feeling motivated. I am worried that something is making you perhaps stop, or prevent you from doing more in your life.

Maybe you need someone to believe in you. Gosh, we believe in you. You are so talented and you are gifted and smart. I love what you said there to Cassy. Yes, if we were neigbours, it would be so cool. :)

If that train came for me ... well I am not ready for such journeys... but I would never want to be apart from my loved ones. They keep my feet on the ground ... and stop me doing crazy stuff too. I have felt bad about things ... and had bad things happen ... you know my story, Nikki.

Just believe in yourself. I care about you so much.

Thanks Cathy. Aww you care...I care about you too. This one is a similar moral as the one in my Time poem. Just to simply live your life as best you can, have no regrets, and be a good person, because you never know when that death train is gonna come rolling through to take you away...and I know I dont wanna go to a bad place when that happens. I want to have done something with my life, accomplished something and made a mark for myself to be remembered by when I am gone. so set forth and do these things and be a good person and do what you believe is right and maybe you will be ready when the death train comes rolling by..

Thank you Nikki, that is sweet. :)

H'mm, it does make me think. I do live my life kind of simply, and I am a person with not much "baggage" in my own life. Not materially at least. Most of what and who I am is in my relationships with people I love and who are my friends.

Myself, I am happy in my job, Nikki... and as soon as I get my poetry book published, I will have a quiet celebration with that milestone in my life. Heh.

Oh speaking of milesones, I saw your new Photography Facbook Page. I am so happy you made this. :)

You are a great friend always Nikki. *Hugs you lots* Have a sweet day.:)

Yea i try to keep my "baggage" light as well. I have rid myself of all the drama in my life and the people that created it. I am happy with who i am today and I think that I am going places. I have a lot to look forward to right now, and trying to get my photography up off the ground, and perhaps eventually get a poetry book or 2 published. I have plenty of poems to go around. I am not fond of my job but thats why I am trying to figure it all out and get my photography started. at least as a side thing for now to earn a few extra bucks. I am doing things at my own pace and enjoying each day that God gives me. Hugs to you too Cathy!

oh this is an awesome read!

thought provoking and a little confronting for some. One never knows when that last train will pull in so its best to know the destination your aiming for.

Voting up and sharing this one on!

Thanks nighthag! its all about life choices. I sometimes fear that day, but i try to live as best i can and make good choices though I know I've made some bad ones, but we live and we learn from our mistakes. Who knows what is to come in the after life but I will live my life based on where I want my after life to end up!
