The End is a New Beginning

The End is a New Beginning

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Ineptitude is thy name, failure is thy game,

and no matter how it can be viewed, man is weak.

Vilified by one other to the point of war,

man finds solace in conquest, security in judgement.

With disregard for life, man destroys all that has no advantage,

exploits all that is within reach,

and claims right to that which is without ownership.

Surely this realisation must come at a personal cost,

must gnaw at the hearts of the pure,

understanding that man is weak, but has the potential to love.

When does life become so weakened that man learns what he has done,

knows that life is not at his to command,

but an opportunity of which he is a part.

I pray that an epiphany is imminent,

without the balance of destruction.

I pray that each one of us comes to our senses, and lives for hope,

letting go of the past to face a positive future.

I pray that we have a future, despite our past actions,

and that love becomes a greater force than greed.

Ah yes. When one door closes another opens, and sometimes one door has to close so that another can open! Thanks for the thoughts, Tony.

I really enjoy this piece, more so than most of your other work. I'm currently writing a piece that is similar to comparison than this.

Once again, nice poem. The way you introduced the piece was brilliant and not to mention captivating. Great work.
