The Fiery Longing For Void

Here in silence...

...or at least content

but knowing contentedness serves few

wondering if being served in other's despite is worth the cost

or whether I pay enough to their benefit

that now things are balanced

in balance finding solace

and yet still my soul is panged

not a conscience offended

but something

to wish others silenced to seek rest

needing rest more then company

resisting solace for other's sake

perhaps that sacrifice is saintly

or just cowardice

decorated with pretty words

still the problem persists

A social creature

craving the void

I am by nature a "people person," but as a writer I often times crave silence....something hard to achieve both in my life and in my home, (2 teenagers, 1 toddler, 1 elderly father, two dogs, and a phone that never stops ringing...) My mother used to tell me to sit quietly, breathe deeply, and listen. Took me years to understand all the things that can be heard in silence. Great hub, Great read!

I have left you in your above requested silence, yet miss the fellowship ...

Needs for silence

Only a moment sate

Then back to chaos

And all that entails

No mortal can spend eternity alone

Tis that I am busy

With reality

Yet not reality craving.

"I am a rock. I am an island. I have no need of friendship. Friendship causes pain. It's laughter and loving I disdain." Paul Simon. Love given and not returned is unrequited. A void is nothingness. We are all worthy of love and capable of love.

Thank you K. Burns, It is to this I was referring and to the fact that I am caught in a place where an infinite silence would be much desired but not allowed. It is a crazy craving that is left unrequited as life must go on.

And I am grateful for the conundrum.

In good old Irish tradition I was expressing a moment of melancholy in this that doesn't happen often but yes, I feel the pull of those other sympathies as well. It is what keeps me from my silence and yet not unhappy.
