The Final Prayer

My faith erodes into disbelief

on the shore of my conscience

decimated by lust and desire

setting my soul on fire

Remorse seeping through my senses

Regret letting down my defenses

I'm a captive of my own duress

fading light in a dark abyss

still i pray for one last time

till my words begin to rhyme

yearn for all i have lost

and all that was once mine

as i lay plagued for tonight

i have to see through a different mind

I wish I knew what could inspire such lovely poetry, but I suppose that is every writer's secret...

Second poem of yours I've read where you decry your lust. Are you religious? Maybe a priest is in order.

Sometimes 'loss', remorse and/or an event which deeply touches or 'hits' the soul can lead to new, different and even sometimes better ways of viewing the/our world.

Or such experience can taint the soul forever.

Love your works ;)

You talented thing you...;)
