The First Sign

Source

I Was Sitting All Alone When ,

You Sat Next To Me And Didn't Say A Word .

With A Smile On Your Face ,

And Looked Into My Eyes .

I Giggled A Little ,

You Scooted Closer .

My Hands Set To My Sides ,

Your Hand Moved Slowly Toward Mine .

You Grasped My Hand Firmly ,

I Squeezed Yours At Exactly The Same Time .

That's When I Noticed ,

You Gave Me The First Sign .

That's When I Fell In Love

For The Very First Time .

The poem is written by my 14 year-old niece who has the gift of poetic writing. The words are expressive through a young girls eyes when she has realized love for the first time. I am in awe of her talent at such a young age and we are so blessed to have her in our presence. We hope that one day she to will publish her work but right now, her eye is on becoming a photographer. She has many more that I will publish for her so that the world knows that although our own youth has passed, does not mean that talent has been forgotten.

always exploring: My niece says you are so welcome. She is proud of her writing now. I do have to correct a couple of words, but from someone who is only 14 it is pretty good. Thank you again for the compliment. :)

must65gt: Aaahh! She is tickled pink about the responses and so happy people are reading her poetry. :)

Please inform your niece that I showed my wife (of 24 years) her poem and to be honest...love still feels the same. It just takes something as simple as a 14 year old girl's poem to remind us of when we were 14 and in love (with each other). Thanks for the reminisce.

Juan: I will definitely to that. 24 years is a long time especially when you find that very special person. Congrats!

I remember when i was thirteen, and fell in love, my only love, i am still married to him. Instead of scolding me, how nice it would have been to have had a relative as you, who embraced my passion...... Wonderful work, i applaud your neice, i applaud her aunt.

great poem.... hey -- we can all be young again, it just takes letting go of your true self, and holding a gentle hand... can i hold yours?

Neil Sperling: I agree that all of us can be young again. If only we could step back into time. :)

Youth is in the heart of the wise. Older may we appear but somehow with each breath stolen we live a little more, die a little more, dream a little deeper in the waters of love.

Up and beautiful. Lovely words.

JadedLove: My niece is so talented. She writes from the heart and she is so good at it. What I wouldn't do to be so young again. I am glad you enjoyed. :)

Great feeling, thanks for sharing.

Continued success to her.

Bless.
