"The Ghost of Us"

I was the one girl
that was there the most,
that you left behind.
Now, I'm living with your ghost,
watching my life pass me by,
and I'm sitting here,
wishing you'd hold me again,
breathing my hardest breath,
trying to be just a friend,
but I was the one you left,
and I dont know why.
Why I'm the one girl,
that cared the most,
but you never cared at all,
living with your own ghost,
watching your life pass and fall.
I'm falling down deeper,
breathing my last breath,
and here I am.
I'm still not with you.
You're with somone else,
and I dont know why.
Why I'm the one girl,
who loved the most,
but you never loved me back,
now we are the ghosts.

That was. . .well I am almost at a loss for words. I feel kind of numb. I have been there more than once. That was a really great poem, I can tell that you had to dig really deep to get that one out. Thanks for sharing!

I always love the metaphor of a ghost. And this is such an evocative read with a hall of fame title that I was swept away by your poetic nirvana!

If writers have mojo then you have it!
