The Girl With A Mask (Pt. 1) - a poem
The Girl With A Mask (Part 1)
She's standing there looking eloquently beautiful
She's standing there appearing so ecstatically happy
She's standing there talking and laughing
She seems so happy
So joyful
She's standing there enjoying life
She looks so happy
So content,
So perfect
But every night she cries herself to sleep
Every night she falls asleep in a discontent state
In the morning she wakes up exhausted
But she continues to rise
Not really knowing why
She continues on her daily routine
Putting on a mask
A mask of happiness
A mask of hypocrisy
She just wishes she could be free
And fall asleep in peace
She wishes she could live in peace
She's standing there looking eloquently beautiful
She's standing there appearing so content and happy
She's communicating, happily- conversing
Appearing so joyful
But at night she cries herself to sleep
At night she hates herself
At night she begs God to end the pain
She pleads
She cries out
She falls asleep in a discontent and lonely state
She just doesn't want to feel alone
She falls asleep wishing someone would be there for her
Hold her tightly
Kiss her forehead
She wishes someone would be there who understands
She wants someone who has the love, joy, and care that she expresses to people each and every day
She prays and believes that better days are to come
She believes her Prince Charming will arrive one of these days
And rescue her from her agony
She falls asleep in pain
She wakes up exhausted
But continues to rise
Not really knowing why
