The Hollow's Mask ( Soul Society )

- The Hollow’s Mask -

Follow me
Into the dark
Close your eyes
Open your mind
The light will
Surely come
To defy
To wash away
The blindness
Granting
New sight
Revising
Misplaced visions
Misguided intents
To create
A purpose
That was lost
In the turmoil
Of upheaval
Within your soul

Your eyes
Are so hollow
Your broken heart
Beats only
For vengeance
Your smile
Demented
Twisted
Beyond recognition
Some would say
Beyond repair
But I tell you now
The voices within
Speak only lies
Grant only fear

This may be
Your last chance
To shatter
The bone mask
That clings
To your face
And to find
The ideals
You fought for
In days
of difference
And forgotten
Cold nights
Your despair
Runs deeper
Than any man
Should bear
But your heart
Has not yet
Faded to dust
Pick up
The remains
And break
Your chains
Or forever fall
Into their realm
From whence
There is no return

- Soul Society -

A drop of life
In an ocean of nothing
Emptiness
Overtaking creation
Swiftly, surely
The ripples of purity
Pulsate outward
Stirring hopes
Among the lost
Unfortunate recipiants
Of the way things are
And must always be
Swimming in a sea
Of unclarity
Pleading for land
Begging for changing
Of tides, and of luck
Gasping for air
To fill lungs and hearts
With anything other
Than remorse and regret
Asking for a taste
Just one glimpse
Of something more
Something beyond
What we know
Just one drop
Of complete
Unadulterated
Life

while hopping again through your page, i remembered to check out the next manga issue for bleach :) Unfortunately, bleach is on break for today :( which is such a shame :( and i guess i have to go back to my finance book and continue my unfruitful act of "Nerd-ing"

[i don't know if that word even exists, but all i know is this poem of yours is officially one of my favorites!]

Best regards!

Uriel

What great poems BenWritings, both awesome.......

Soul Society right on my level - beautiful, emotive and so well put together

"Asking for a taste

Just one glimpse

Of something more

Something beyond

What we know"

I do believe in a form of reincarnation and this is just what I would love to experience....

The Hollow Mask is a reflection of myself, my life, my past, my nightmares and my present. "Follow Me into the Dark" so poignant and real. You gave me a jolt, goosebumps ran swiftly over my soul leaving a trail of dust from my past.

Soul society shining of hope and opportunity. We all want something from life to keep us moving forward with a positive frame of mind. We are living in a dangerous world now, I believe life will get harder and crueler as our earth shifts with war, famine, nuclear problems and GREED for oil.

These were both written very well my friend, I applaud you and your gifts.

The Hollow's Mask is something far too many people choose to wear but there is always hope - something you convey so well.

Soul Society is a magnificent work with such a wonderful message - Hope - maybe even Teamwork among people, mutually helping, lifting spirits, offering support when things look bleak. I love it.

Minnetonka - Thank you very much! It just so happens that the music is from the show that inspired that first poem. Very fitting, and very powerful. Thank you for the read and the flattery

Wow Ben-You really amaze with me your wisdom that rings in the words of your poetry. Sounds like you have weathered the storm with your words as they heal us all here at hubpages. I too loved reading while listening to the song.

Nikki - the first one waters my eyes terribly. I'm really glad it moved you, like I have always said...that is my reason for writing.

Thanks for the comment, and it's wonderful that you relate so well to a lot of my writing. :]

Acer - thank you for always commenting/supporting me

Ian - can you explain to me what you mean by the last part of your comment? Thank you for reading, and I loved the music

I really love your choice of music for this one, Ben (Actually, that should make you worry!), but I have been noticing more and more that what you write and think is so very much like the stuff that was churning around in my mind when I was only a little younger than you. Has there been a natural straight line progression or have things described a cycle? And then I read Poohgranma's comments and they almost seem to confirm what I think but with a good deal of lateral thinking employed.

I used to watch Bleach but got so far behind I gave up :\ But besides that I really like this. I love how you put music with it, I always listen and read them together and it makes it such a powerful experience. Another good one! :)

Wow, that comment means so much to me...

This was dedicated to the show "Bleach" which is such an incredibly powerful show, that leaves one wondering so many things.

I do have an old soul, and I know things I wish I didn't know.

Thank you so much for that, I hope it left an impact, regardless of if you've seen the show or not.

You have such an "old" soul Ben. I don't happen to be a believer in reincarnation, but you would present as an excellent argument. Maybe you can just give voice to what others your age are feeling but can't express. You know too much and hurt too much for one your age.

I wish we had done a better job, taking care of this earth, of each other and of our children.
