The Book About You

There is a book all about you. But it is not about the you that you know a lot about. Albert Einstein says:

Strange is our situation here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to divine a purpose.

This book is about the you that is not born and does not die. Now you are probably familiar with the Christian religion talking about the soul. Now didn't the soul exist before Jesus was born? About 400 years before Jesus was born, Socrates died. He was famous for using the saying that existed before him known as "Know thyself."

Wikipedia says:

Radhakamal Mukerjee, an Indian social scientist, dated the book to the period immediately after the Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita (c. 500–400 BC).[3]

Socrates also taught that the most important thing was a person's immortal soul. Since a person is the world's leading expert on themselves, he was not talking about this known self but about the unknown Self. Note that this Self gets a capital 'S' because it is divine. This book is online so you do not need to buy it and takes about 2 hours to read. Amazon.com has about 20 different translations of this book.

I am not he only one to think it was the best book ever written. Another person that feels that it is the best book is Osha or Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. He is deceased now but used to be a spiritual maser that owned a 64,000 acre ranch in Oregon USA. He owned 93 Rolls Royces also (more than anyone else). The name of the book the Ashtavakra Gita. Gita roughly means song.

He said:

Man has many scriptures, but none comparable to the Gita of Ashtavakra. Before it Vedas pale (mentions Indian scriptures), the Upanishads speak with a weak voice. Even the Bhagavad Gita does not have the majesty found in the Astavakra Samhita (another name for it)-- it is simply unparalleled.

Let me ask you if you are the greatest authority on anything. If your answer is "no", I beg to differ with you. You are the greatest authority on yourself. If one asks you if you like vanilla or chocolate ice cream better, you are the one who knows the best. If one asks you if you want to play tennis or volleyball the most, you are the best expert in the world on this.

So why would Socrates say know thyself. He is talking about the subconscious mind. Now you can ask the best psychologists in the world what is in the subconscious mind. They will tell you that they do not know. Ask them if the subconscious mind knows all about God and all the past lives you lived and how all the people that you know now were related to you in a past life and they have no idea about that.

Now what do really know about yourself. You know that you were born and you will die and that is it. Everything else are just beliefs. Now I can tell you that a person can know the unknowable. Mankind, unlike other animals, can do that. This book is actually telling you what you know but you do not know that you know it.

Also believing something cannot make you happy but knowing something can. For example does believing that everything will be for the best make you fearless? No it does not. Does knowing that everything will be for the best make you fearless? Yes it does. Now people want to be happy, right. Well how can you be happy when you also have fear? You can't! So this book is trying to get you to know instead of just believing.

Religions

Here I will talk a little about religions. The Christian religion does not describe in the bible what heaven is. Christians will tell you that to get to heaven that you need to give your life to Jesus. The funny thing is that the bible does not tell you that. In fact the new testament wasn't even written until 200 years after Jesus died.

So it does not talk about what heaven is since people of that time and place knew what heaven was and how to get there. Before the Muslim religion and the Christian religion existed there were many people that existed. So what was the religion that people of that time followed and what did it say about heaven.

The Zoroastrian religion or Zoroastrianism was a huge religion that existed in the Middle East before the Christian and Muslim religion existed. Wikipedia says:

The Zoroastrian Achaemenid Empire at its greatest extent was the largest ancient empire in recorded history at 8.0 million km2 (480 BCE).[35].

More on Zoroastrianism

Wikipedia also says about Zoroastrianism:

Zoroastrianism is one of the world's oldest religions, "combining a cosmogonic dualism and eschatological monotheism in a manner unique... among the major religions of the world."[2] Ascribed to the teachings of the Iranian Prophet Zoroaster (or Zarathustra),[3] he exalted their deity of wisdom, Ahura Mazda, (Wise Lord) as its Supreme Being.[4] Leading characteristics, such as messianism, heaven and hell, and free will influenced other religious systems, including Second Temple Judaism, Gnosticism, Christianity, and Islam.

So as taught by this religion people who did more good than bad when they died went to heaven. People who did more bad than good when they died went to hell. That is simple and straight forward. Remember that Jesus had not been born yet.

More on the Subconscious Mind & Meditation

So one can know something and forget it but a psychologist helps them to remember it. So people can know things like what they need to be happy but not know they know it. Doing a meditation may help them to remember it. For example the following people have chosen to find their happiness through Transcendental Meditation(TM): Dr. Oz, Oprah Winfrey [who is a billionaire], Jerry Seinfeld, Clint Eastwood and Ivanka Trump who's father may be the next president of the U.S.A., Gisele Bündchen, Jennifer Aniston, Katy Perry, Sir Paul McCartney and billionaire Ray Dalio.

What this book tells about is the core or center of a human being. That core never suffers and feels the most happiness ever. It is said to be infinite. So what you learned in mathematics is that any finite number pales in comparison to a finite number. Also the above is said to be indescribable so this is my attempt to describe something that is indescribable. This book is a much better attempt at that. The yogis talked about deep sleep thousands of years ago. They said that during deep sleep one is in their original state where they one with God.

People are doing all sorts of things to be happy (until they die) but they do not work. Many people get married but then get divorced. I know a psychologist that married a guy who was over 30 years older than him. They were married for many years and then he died. She was devastated by it. You cannot be happy by anything you gain in life since you will lose it. But all the happiness that you ever wanted and more is right inside of you. All you have to do is get to that level of consciousness where you can feel it.

Albert Einstein said:

No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.

This level of consciousness can be reached and this book can help. Have you ever noticed that everything does not happen the way that you want it to? Believe it or not, everything that happens in your life is to make it possible to reach this level of consciousness as soon as possible.

Here is the Ashtavakra Gita online. It is also called by one translator, The Song of the Self Supreme. Here are a few quotes from this book:

If only you will remain resting in consciousness, seeing yourself as distinct from the body, then even now you will become happy, peaceful and free from bonds. 1.4

You are not the body, nor is the body yours, nor are you the doer of actions or the reaper of their consequences. You are eternally pure consciousness, the witness, in need of nothing — so live happily. 15.4

Everyone is in pain because of their striving to achieve something, but no one realizes it. By no more than this instruction, the fortunate one attains tranquility. 16.3

He whose thinking mind is dissolved achieves the indescribable state and is free from the mental display of delusion, dream, and ignorance. 17.20

I do a meditation that is not TM but is more effective. To learn about it see Words of Peace.
