The Greatest Gift- a poem
The Greatest Gift

Time cannot erase the beauty of your heart,
the freedom found in giving,
and the abandon of selfless surrender.
How I hold your delicate heart in my hands,
is with such conviction and respect,
knowing vulnerability is a vast commitment,
a trust beyond self-preservation.
What you give to me, so quickly, so completely,
is the greatest gift in life,
a pure and open faith in love, in me.
How imbued with strength I feel, chosen,
to have found your heart,
a heart willing to open like a flower,
a body willing to accept the expression of loving embrace,
a mind honest and free to feel and share,
the deepest and darkest secrets of being.
What you offer in surrender,
is all a soul could need, in nourishment,
in blissful acceptance.
I, with all my imperfections, renounce all else,
to be by your side and give myself to you,
to share, to experience all that life affords,
and to love your precious soul,
till life’s journey ends and a new journey begins.
You are me and I am you, together.
