The Highway

The vast
Long road
That can take you anywhere
Lost road trips
Hold the mysteries
Of what happened there
In silence
You can see everything
In nature surrounding you
From dawn
To dusk
To sunset
And everything in between
You can almost
Hear the miles
That had passed there
In all seasons
Summers are always
The most fun
Listening to
Motorcycles race
Through the wind
Picturing what the
Thrill feels like
The empty road is
Waiting to be filled
With new stories to tell

I love the open road and wide space - so long as I'm sure I have plenty of petrol to last until I reach the next filling station. Your lovely poem conjures up the feeling that it may be close to time to take time off again and hit the highway.

My elder son and I road tripped for almost 2,000 miles this year - man we loved it. Sending this poem off to him. Really well done.

Thank you for the wonderful memories of unforgettable road trips some of which I would like to take at least one more time on this earth.
