The Homicide Division

The Homicide Division

clocked in five fresh murders,

only one was a slam dunk,

the others got locked away

in a cold-case file trunk,

not sure how long they’ll stay,

it was a convenient store,

the fifty-two year old man from India

was stretched out on the floor,

his first look into death wasn’t brushed,

his skull had been crushed

in an argument with a younger man,

a petty thief who used a tire iron

to demonstrate the law of physics

that allow no two objects

to occupy the same space,

at the same time,

it was a down right disgrace,

as we can easily kill an innocent man

even after looking into his face,

they caught the young man quick,

one out of five,

and this was a good pick,

justice had indeed arrived,

and liberty was on the attack,

the Homicide Division,

were smiling and laughing,

and slapping each other on the back,

and what’s more,

all this was going on

while there was a dead man on the floor.

Voted up, awesome, and interesting Frank. It is a cruel world my friend and you capture it in poetry. Another great poem Frank. Death is among us all.

There you go again , and in your was of exposing the ugly face of Evil. And of course all this would happen with a body on the floor , because , it's on the job .

And don't start and argument for the dead, keep up the one for those that exist and need to face the reality of who 's next.

As it's appointed onto man once to die but after death!

Keep up the great work , you are already a specalist at your craft.

This is great.

The dark imagery makes me terribly sad. But this poem also reminds me you are the only one on hubpages who write unique poems. When lots of people write about love and life, you write about death and decadence.

It's like a real life look into a cop shop. I think maybe they have to laugh while such horror abounds to keep their sanity. This is another for the show you should get! It would be great. Crime dramas are all the rage now and I like how yours go to different places and view things from different angles all the time. Kudos!

I've always felt a bit sad for some convenience store workers. High risk job for few rewards. You've captured the worst results of that job perfectly Frank.

You write very passionately, but in this hub it seems like it is more like a dream than your actual writing. As if you were dreaming these things as you wrote.

Oh yes Frank another powerful and great hub from you my friend.

I enjoy each and everyone and reading ones that are a little gloomy or nasty I don't mind at all because your hubs are so interesting and they also inspire me along my way.

It would be nice to talk about sunshine and flowers all the time but sadly life isn't like this.!!!

This hub brought a memory back of what happened right here only about 25 miles away;a teenager set fire to an ASDA superstore with nearly a hundred shoppers in there.

Thank fully no-one was hurt and the youth arrested.

An up up and away here.

Take care my friend and have a great weekend.

Eddy.

I enjoyed your poem. However, it did leave me pondering how the families of the victim are affected when exposed to the reality of what it means to work a homicide? Sobering? Heartfelt? Anger? Resentment?
