The Intimate Sharing of Self

By Tony DeLorger © 2014

Intimate, this need to tell,

to explore in words the meanings felt,

and I, too honest to myself be true,

unleash my thoughts and scribe them too.

From depths so deep, in darkest space,

the melding truths of a soul replace,

and ascend to conscious thoughts of mind,

epiphanies from secrets in lucid rhyme.

And ink upon a page ensues,

to relish truth of myself the muse,

this ever-changing circumspect life,

a voyeur of souls and human strife.

In all that passes this fragile mind,

a stoic right in truth to bind,

and flush the known and unknown plight,

into the realm of thoughts delight.

For what I dream and speak and write,

my blood is spilt and inks in spite,

of all that wish reality gone,

I'll bleed it out until I'm wrong.

For learn I must in life's decay,

what makes me me, and what dues I'll pay,

and when my pen retires quiet,

I'll lay down and die, my eternal diet.

I am a writer, and I'll share with you,

my darkest fears and my fondest truths,

I give of me til there's nothing left,

and the angels call, my mind bereft.

For life is a journey and has no end,

just transformation when I lay down my pen,

but my thoughts will live and my love entreat,

those who'll read my words and reap.

To write is a blessing, to be read a double blessing, but the real blessing is what we learn along the way.
