The Littlest Things Mean So Much

The Funniest Stories I Can Tell

If you want to see two adults have a good time

Watch the store video cameras where the film never lies

It didn't matter what day of the week or what we were doing

Mom and I would just roll with the punches and find one more way

To laugh at ourselves and this way no harm was ever done

From trying to get an extra cookie sample at the bakery in Stop & Shop

Where we knew it was for kids only

I had my mother do the all dirty work

A fool proof plan

Who is going to yell at an elderly woman

If she grabbed a cookie or two

Chocolate chip one of her favorites

When the store was closing and they asked everyone to bring your final purchases up to the counter

We still shopped looking at the greatest buys

Like this store was closing forever

Then looking around and seeing we are the last customers in the store

We felt real special

As managers stopped to check us out at the register

We felt that we counted

As all eyes were on us

Not because we are so important

But because the sooner they got us out ot the store the sooner they could go home

Me driving and my mom riding shot gun

Telling me cars that are too close and to slow down

Mom never had her liscence and she could be ready to go out in five minutes flat

Looking at the good deals at the clearance rack at the Christmas Tree Shop

Then deciding to wait it out and check back in a couple of days

To see if they marked it down even further

Then we would both pick the item up

For an unbelievable price

One for her house and one for my house

She could shop all night at one store

She was ready to go after carefully combing each isle with a fine tooth comb

She knew where to find me in the book isle reading

The newest and latest best story

Thanksgiving was not just another day

Sure everyone ate until we dropped or couldn't move

But it was the day right before Black Friday

Where we fine tuned all our skills

To find the best buys in the least amount of time

Get in get out just before the crowds found what we already know

A great deal while it still lasted

Thinking of years ago when I was small

Signing my name on a mailing list

Of how many packs a cigerettes I smoked

Just to get a couple of coupons in the mail

So mom could use it on her next purchase

Little did the companies know I was ten

We rode the fine line just on the edge of the law

Using coupons at the food store to save lots of money

Organizing and sorting pulling all those coupons out that were just about to expire

Sending in cereal box tops was my oldest memory

Where I got real money in the mail

Crisp new dollar bills

This is when I knew I lived in America

Where dreams are made

All you needed is desire and lots of action to make it happen

And never accepting No for an answer

Well to all you shoppers who are going to take their own life in their hands

Good luck shopping and feel free to share all your great buys

Mom and I decided to sit this one out

Just because it isn't the same

Mom will be watching and smiling with the widest brown eyes

Saying been there done that and it was out of this world

Now it good to see other people do what we have done

Having so much fun

Where we forgot we were mother and son

Voted up and awesome. You outdid yourself. What a wonderful tribute to your mom. I used to do a lot of shopping with my mom too and coupons were a great part of the deal. I sure miss her at holiday time. Thanks for the memories. Passing this on.
