The Most Beautiful Man in the World.......

He would be standing at six foot four
two hundred pounds and no fat
A golden setting tinge to his hair
dimples and maybe a baseball hat

He would have been kind...... compassioned .........a son
in one arm twin daughters in the other
And room for so much more
Such is the lost brother

He would invite strangers into his humble
home and hold his pretty wife at his side
On sundays he would wax an old
covertible ....wiping with pride

Co-workers would say ......he's the hardest
worker we've got now
And still energize the coaching of his young-uns
and leave us all wondering how

Our Father would have grunted in pride
of the same uniform that he wore
And I can see him kneeling in prayer
on the pew on the hardwood floor

But no .........a drunken driver decided
he could't ride.... and drove away afterwards too
And the long lost brother is still missing
like all stolen memories do

Such is the lost brother.........

For Dougie.....

A drunk diver also killed a friend of mine (who almost fits your description), and he was one of the finest men I ever knew.

Lovely tribute.

A beautiful projection filled with love and pride, of what should have been… if only.

Your brother lives on in you, dear ahorseback and oh, how you do him proud. Your love for your brother is so powerful and shines through these words. Love conquers all and lives on for eternity.

Thank you for sharing this amazing poem and of touching the hearts of all of us who read it.

What a beautiful remembrance and foresight of how life would have been. While we want them here with us, we know that is nit possible. You certainly keep his presence living through the love in your heart.

I am so sorry for your loss. I also lost my brother, when he was 19 and I was 16 years old. He died in the military. God bless.

This is a heartwarming tribute to Dougie. The loss of a Brother or, in my case, a Sister, remains forever. Not a day passes that i don't think of her and weep. When i think of her, i know she is at peace. No more suffering. ( She had Cancer of the brain ) Your poetry is so beautiful and full of heart. Thank you.

God Bless

Like Lucky Cats, I too had chills through my body and little tears in my eyes. Dude, you write moving poetry as all of us can somehow relate to the emotions you evoke through your poems. A lovely gift you have!

I was thinking you were describing the perfect man and smiling to myself until I hit the end when the world turned upside down. To elicit such a range of emotions in so little space shows the depth of your talent. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Poetvix , You are too kind , and I was thinking of my brother lost so long ago in a tragic death. Perhaps in the blink of an eye with another outcome ! Everything would have been so different , I thank you for sharing!......:-}
