The New England Spring

Night creatures would sing,

and the cool thin air

proclaimed the New England spring,

another night,

the moon so bright,

almost like from another time,

it was such a grand sight,

framed in the outlines

of its own light,

hovering above like magic,

over looking a grove of tall elms

with no room for anything tragic,

as the moonlight touched the early leaves,

it was glistening and glowing,

above the short new grass

with earth still showing,

a combination of joy and happiness

it will promise to bring,

as we wait for the New England spring.

What a beautiful poem. The way you described that moon was breathtaking. It was as if I was right there basking in the glow of that magic moon. What a great feeling! Thanks for starting my day off with a smile. :)

A very refreshing poem. I am longing for winter to be gone and your poem warms me as I look out the window seeing the snow still flying.

Frank, this is beautiful! Spring is my favorite season: full of new birth and regrowth as plants and animals reproduce and wake up from their winter slumber. I'm sure spring time is much anticipated in New England, but it is also looked forward to here along the Gulf Coast (well, maybe minus a few spring breakers, lol). Awesomely beautiful poem!

"...a combination of joy and happiness

it will promise to bring," Aaah yes, I feel the same about spring in Florida although I would imagine that anticipating spring after the hard freeze and blankets of snow awaiting the wonder of the new green, new life everywhere would cause a swirl of joy and happiness.

Loved this.

Thanks for sharing.

Voted up and shared

Ok Frank, I have to admit I was waiting for the boom to drop but it never did, I should have known "with no room for any tragic"! This was a beautiful poem and reading it today is just in time for the spring we have so awaited! Hoping you are basking in warm weather and sunshine. Peace & Joy.

Voted up, awesome, and beautiful.

Hey, Frank! I voted this poem 'up' and 'beautiful.' That's the first time I ever had occasion to rank one of your hubs specifically 'beautiful,' to my recollection.

This is a nice change of pace for you.

The softer side of "Edgar Allen Poe"!

Take it easy. :)
