The Phone Rings

I know you keep calling

because you want me to forgive

and forget

decide it doesn’t matter

all the times you walked away

weren’t there to see me through

provide a hand

or word of encouragement.

You want me to dismiss

all the times

you begged and pleaded

for a second chance,

as if it all was a dream.

You want me to say

nevermind

I don’t remember

and it doesn’t matter

to a history

of meaningless words

and broken promises.

You want me to stay

stuck in time

waiting for you.

As I hear

the phone ring again,

I turn away.

For the words spoken

have never meant a thing,

so why bother

answering that line.

I'm sorry you're having to go through this. Why don't pick-up and put it straight or maybe you can delete from your phone.

Luckily for me when through this like a never had a phone, he would show at the door until I told face to face it's over.

Voted up and beautiful, Joyce.

There is no reason in the world to answer that line! Walk the talk or shut up. Great poem!

Sounds like you are dealing with someone who refuses to accept reality. I hope that things work out for you.

Great poem, the best thing to forget the painful memory is to cut off any form of communication, and reconnected when there is no feeling of any sort involved.

truthfornow: Voted up and beautiful. I could feel your emotion. So very sorry for the apparent mind games you have been put throughout.

You said alot in a few words.

God bless you...I have had you on my prayer list for months, and I pray for you every single day. Blessings, Sparklea :)
