Inspirational Poetry: Poem About Writing
Author Bio and Intentions
I graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 2012 with a Bachelors of Arts in English Studies. Focusing on creative non-fiction, poetry and fiction writing genres, I have been trained and educated in many forms of rhetoric. My passion for writing has always been the most important thing in my life. It is my hope and desire to get my original work out to the community, in order to generate a following an eventually replace tradition employment with a freelance career. Please, follow, comment, and share as nothing is possible without the support of this wonderful community of artists. Thank, you. Cheers, folks!
The Poet Talks
The poet talks of love and life,
Of all his inner pent up strife.
He talks of truth and natures beauty,
And thwarted lover’s sacrificial duty.
I write my words as if they’re psalms,
As if I sing of Solomon’s secret songs.
I wish my words were beauty and truth,
But alas I find my words are still in youth.
For in her eyes can I see no purer sight;
Not in a mother’s hug or her soft kiss good night;
Nor in a child’s whimpering cries,
As he falls from his bike and refuses to rise.
And in her smile there is no more joy;
Not in the parents of a newborn baby boy;
Nor in that boy as he opens gifts,
On his cheerful birthday, his cheerful fifth.
But in her words, unlike my own,
Is love that I have never known.
And in her tone I have found truth;
The truth that my words hold no beauty over you.
