The Ribbons of Time
"The ribbons of time are filled with wonderful surprises."
Color brings surprises to life, and life revolves around time which, according to the quote above, is nothing more than ribbons. What a beautiful thought, that time is made up of ribbons. It makes me wonder just what colors I'm weaving into the world and what colors those around me might be leaving in their wake.
If that is to be believed, then what an amazing array of colorful ribbons we live each and every day! Your best friend and your mother and the people you work with and even the strangers you said hello to are all intertwined by something as beautiful as that.
Not only that, but if you consider all the ribbons each person has and how they intertwine with every other person in the world, can you imagine the tapestry of life since the beginning of time? Just step back a moment and imagine it, stretching out further than your eye can see and made of every color you could have ever imagined.
I don't believe it would be perfect though. No, this tapestry would have flaws. There would be holes where someone left this world too soon and snags in the ribbons where people had fought and knots in plenty of places from when emotions ran high and people hurt each other.
But to look at it overall? What a masterpiece God directs! We may cause flaws, but to see that He is keeping it all on track in the long run is a comforting thing.
I like to think that when time ends, God will hang the tapestry on the wall of heaven and say to His people, "See what was made in the confines of time? Now let's make one to span eternity! But this time, let's make it perfect."
