The Seasons are Changing

In the purple twilight

I could feel the chill

Before the morning light

There would be frost

Heralding the news

That soon the cold north winds would come

Making summer but a memory

It fills my heart with sadness

To think that soon

The skies will be filled

With birds heading for the south

They’ll call their farewells

And take to wing

Until it be once more spring

The trees will shed their leaves

Delighting us with swirling colors

In a crisp, cold metal blue sky

Nature will wrap itself up

For a long winter’s nap

I feel the earth beneath my bare feet

Become so very cold

It seems there’s no warmth anywhere

But I still dare to dream

About green meadows and butterflies

The scent of flowers in the air

These are the thoughts

I’ll take with me

As I walk into autumn

Of lovers who loved

While the summer was here

And whose love grew cold

With the changing of the seasons

Of lovers throughout the centuries

Who once loved with passion

Whose hearts grew cold

With death shadow upon them

Now loving forever

Beyond the stars above

So let the cold winds take me

They won’t break me

My love and my passion

Will keep me warm

Throughout the autumn and winter long

Slightly different tone but very appropriate for the season. Excellent poetry. Nice video.

Beautiful poem. Your words captured my thoughts on the contrast of seasons and brought out the feelings and emotions that arise when changing seasons. Great work! + Video is a nice addition!

"death's shadow" from your lovely poem. Do you suppose that when we receive our perfect bodies the ongoing love will be its own perfect, too?

Somehow, after reading this, I won't mind the cold as bad. I loved the phrase, " Walk into autumn. "

I like alwaystraveling's comment about "Walk into Autumn" and would add to it "scuffing leaves along the way."

Thank you ecogranny.

The scuffling of leaves always associated to autumn for me Demas. Hasn't happened here yet but I know it will be soon.
