The Secret Gift of Pain

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Evolving demands pain,

change our greatest challenge,

our Achilles heal

and the key to an uplifting life.

Wallowing in the stagnant swill of denial,

can only impair and dismantle possibilities,

break them down to shards of hurt and failure,

littering our path to freedom.

Giving attention to our pain is difficult,

yet from understanding it subsides,

placed within a new perspective,

alleviating the fear that lays at its core.

Suffering is as much a part of life as breathing,

each moment a heightened experience

that when accepted,

can be pure learning and the transformation of a soul.

Without judgement, joy and pain become alike,

and intense and fulfilling experience,

that by its very nature,

uncovers revelations and our true nature.

An open mind thirsts for knowledge,

thirsts for the truth, regardless of circumstance,

always pealing away the layers,

of our conceit and self-importance.

Life is the teacher.
