The Serenity of Acceptance

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Moments found in the serenity of acceptance,

are like sparks from a virgin flame,

imprinting on reality for but a second,

but the warmth and illumination of light remaining.

Conflict in life requires opposing forces,

but in acceptance we relinquish all contention,

leaving our antagonist weak and ineffective,

unable to feed on the momentum of aggression.

In serenity there is no force just reality,

all contentions and opposition clear and filled with intention,

their roots without a nurturing earth, raw and exposed,

seen for what they are, their impotence and inadequacy.

Accepting reality and resting at ease with it,

gives perspective to the reactive nature of humanity,

allowing truth to be unveiled,

and in all responses a calm and considered dialogue.

Peace is not an impossible ideal, simply a choice,

and in acceptance of a circumstance without reaction,

we may begin to understand its nature,

and imbue contention with a disarming passivity.

Accepting life with all its diversity of experience,

gives the opportunity of a balanced viewpoint,

a serene and unbiased view of reality,

without being driven by ego and contention.

Tony, I have always believed that there simply is no comparison to your poetry; the elegance and class it portrays the rhythmic flow of the words leave one in a trance.
