The Siren's Kiss

The Siren's Kiss
Chad Taylor © 2011

Sounds of macabre echo from the chalice
Shadows dance across my valance
Is it truth that I should be afraid?

I close my eyes to the sounds abaft
On the wind her perfume wafts
Is it déjà vu or is she reaching out to me?

Fingers reach tracing my future
A voice from afar draws me closer
Was it her name I heard in the flutter?

Restless in my dream I stand at the gaff
Shouting to the pallor waves break mast
I am not afraid I step from the deck -

Sinking deeper her hands find me
Through the abyss I am free
Slowly now I count the stars

How far I do not know but she still holds
A different world my eyes now behold
Surrendered now I exhale my last breath -

To a kiss...

what better way to die, than by the lips of a beautiful creature. the sirens song lures you in, and then the kiss of death, it all happens so suddenly, that you dont even get a chance to fight, even if you wanted too.

A poem filled with passion and abandonment. Very well composed. It captivates your interest until the last very last word.
