The Solve Rate Rises

It was very difficult to believe,

that the murder was already

a month old,

and there was no temporary reprieve,

the case was heading for cold,

the family would continue to grieve,

and different stories about the

case were told,

and to say the least,

the newspapers called

the department a reactive beast,

although the wisdom on his side

was prevailing,

even though the case was failing,

there were no clues, no witnesses, none,

to solve a case like that

was easier said then done,

and there were no compromises,

cases like this would continue,

unless the solve rate rises,

and that’s practical politics,

without the surprises,

something had to give,

and the worst is not knowing,

as the newspapers and television

continued crowing,

and there was still no results showing,

the wounds were still raw,

and when the reporters asked

the captain some questions,

about what he saw,

he just stared at them

like a cat with a canary locked in its jaw,

but the case would continue to grow,

because the solve rate was so low.

Frank....I am finding your crime poetry addicting. :) How the heck do you continue to knock these bad boys out? And to be consistently good?! :)

Very unique hub, but has lots of sense, i like it particularly the lines,

It seems to me that you have created your own genre. The style is unique and I see it as being commercial in that there could be a market for it. You could almost work toward writing the first crime mystery novel in prose.

Folks rarely consider how it must feel to those entrusted to solve and bring to justice killers when the case is cold. The emotions and politics can't be an easy thing to bare when the pressures on and the case grows. You've laid that situation out with grit on here my friend.

Frank, are you a detective? Reading your poems feels like being in the middle of the crime scene investigation series.

FRANK THE TANK! FRANK THE TANK! Sorry. Movie addictions. I have always been into your poetry my friend. You are one of the few poets that I can visualize everything you write. To me, it means you are great at what you do pal. You should link them all together Frank. I wonder if anyone has written a book in a series of poems? The only poetry I read is on here. Voted up, awesome, and interesting Frank. Take care.

You are a master at writing these crime poems. This one has a film noir feel to it, showing the frustration of a man beleaguered by the public, the family and his superiors. Great job Frank.
