The Tides That Draw ......

The strawberry moon rises above a darkened
summer coastline
And bringing with it the pulling
of tides tugging at my mind

Restless and angst transform
the night into dawn
I fight the urge to sleep
awakening with a yawn

And all at once I realize the tides draw
in two directions
One the waves from the sea
and two my conscientious reflections

And as the sea rolls back into the hours
Of spray ....wind.....and waves
The liquidity of my inner being
engulfs and enslaves

Yes my friend you have done it again
my ocean ..my savior...my sea
Again and again I follow the tides
until the magic releases me

And even as I walk away from the sand
the surf ....the sound
The tides sway my world into
a waltz ......circling back again and around

Perhaps a bit too much ,humm! Always Exploring , I truely find my peace in nature. More and more I think! Maybe my age is part of that ,soon to be 58 . I mean I always loved the solitude but in the last few years it has grown......:-} Thank you for sharing your time.

Hyphenbird , perhaps in another life I lived on the sea , it has such a draw. But any water will do ! A stream , river , lake ....It instills peace , no ? And did you enjoy your walk to the falls last week.?.....:-}

ahorseback, Indeed I did enjoy that walk. It was so amazing to hike 2 miles into the forest and have that refreshing 70 feet of water rush down. Coming out was a bit difficult as it is uphill all the way and a torrential storm arrived to escort us out with bursts of lightening all around.

We are going again tomorrow. There is a place near here where one can see 3 falls in a 5 mile hike. So that is how I am spending my Saturday.

Like you, any water calms me and gives me rest. I will post pictures in a Hub. Did you see the one I did on Crabtree Falls?

I have recently written a poem about the sea, in my niave, unskilled style, no comparison here other than what the ocean means to me also. A constant that always soothes, without exception. You capture this feeling magnificently, ahorseback.

"my ocean ..my savior...my sea"

Yes, always and always and your words roll like liquid gold, a gleaming Rolls Royce to my dirt buggy.

(You will see what I mean when I publish my meagre offering.)

Awesome as always and voted accordingly!!

The ocean is beautiful but it scares me and I would never try to swim in it, maybe I can write about its terror, lol, but to the ones who have no fear I feel astounded. I was going to make more comment but I think I will look around and make a hub if no one has it...thanks!
