The Tides of our Lives (a poem of contemplation)
The gifting tides roll in, as all our lives to begin,
Every hungry soul, and of a spirit, each is given,
Now every one to live, ours, in all our dedication
We, to give a record of each, that is so striven.
The morning tide, warming, such a welcomed one,
The life forces, all so widely spread, this in its gift,
All life is quenched, to provide for a thirsty earth,
In its fertile bed, as each ship of life is set adrift.
Is reliable, in its motions never to cease, the tide,
A dependable benefactor, in its waves, so strong,.
By each morning to come in, evening to withdraw,
Sea birds feed and to accompany, in their song.
The cooling tides roll out, their bounty strewn about,
Starfish brightly shine, as stars in a nighttime, brine.
Sea shells, blue and pink, so pale, each a story to tell,
A fondness, etched in waiting sands, warm moonshine.
