The Volunteer Heart
April Poetry Month
She spends herself in service
Returning God's love with interest
Enriching the world around her
With an offering of herself.
She measures out her giving
In unlimited response
To those whose humanity is their birthright
God's children are her own.
She seeks to find in each and all
The seeds sown in the soul
And with her strength, nuture
The flower of His image.
She reaches out to young and old
Bearing gifts, the fruits of her labor
She is sister and mother
To the family of man.
Her arms outspread, she embraces
Her world and all within,
Warming all whose lives she touches
With her abundant joy.
