The Young Girl In Red

More Dark Fantasy's by Frank F. Atanacio :

http://frankatanacio.hubpages.com/hub/Snow-Whites-Darkness#

He was a predator by his own admission,

he exposed himself simply by telling

her lies,

she saw that in his big brown eyes,

he was deranged,

as he smiled at the young girl in red,

her face changed,

and she removed the hood from her head,

he looked at her up and down,

as if he were taking stock,

the red hood fell to the ground,

her face went blank,

as if from some sort of shock,

he moved closer, and she slightly shrank,

the wolf stopped, and was just standing there,

his motives were clear,

and in that moment she would fear,

she tried gathering her composure,

hunger in his eyes, she sees,

as they stood alone in the dark,

underneath the trees,

her body elongated,

her feet moved over the bare dirt,

his teeth exposed,

and she knew they’d hurt,

above her the moon hugged the night,

a lonely child in the forest

was a frightful sight,

her grandmother’s house was very far off,

maybe just under a mile,

she grimaced as she tried to smile,

the wolf had forgotten his perpetual anger,

for just a little while,

and the fear would pile and pile,

so she cried,

knowing that her future

had already died.

Lol. Keep that well meant smile on the faces of your readers.

Yes brethren Frank the anticipation builds and then you are reminded that it a poem . Being able to do that with words is the absolute thrill in writing , it's yours to enjoy.

Now I'm your avid fan.... and I'm still forcing my head to believe it's "just" the old story that I knew about... (with a little shiver). There are so many red riding hoods out there... just hiding... afraid to tell granny about the bad wolf. So sad. Great poem!

Do we have any hope that she made it to grandmas house Frank? You have a real talent even if it does sometimes surprise me but I don't know why. I lived on true crimes for years so I surely know there are few good endings, lol.

You pen fear, sorrow, and last thoughts so well Frank. Masterfully done. You diminished all hope and there is no sign of an axe man here. I wreaks of truth, she wouldn't have thought to wish for the axe man. I really enjoy your spin on the classics.

remind me not to offer treats to the not so cute wolf like puppies? If only she had a milk bone to distract him.
